    Hangman's Alley is the single best Survival Mode settlement. Incredibly safe with a single entrance in case of attack (just don't unlock the back entrance or scrap the door). Super close to both Diamond City and the teleport location from the Institute.

    Settlement building's benefits mostly relate to building settlements, outside of survival mode. I like having massive supplies of fertilizer, purified water, and tatoes/corn/mutfruit for mass crafting of Jet and vegetable starch for XP farming. I love having passive junk collection to fuel my crafting and building.
