There are some reasons like bad cellular signal or a WLAN is wrong (because iOS is often using WLAN for your geolocation). Everything's fine.
Jul 14, 2016. #4. The size of the circle is the degree of certainty. GPS is accurate within 30 feet of you, as long as you have clear line of sight. But what you have realize is that a lot of times the iphone just fakes your location, because it wants to save power. Real gps locks can take several minutes.
I hadnt explored the app enough there is an option to go into hiding. There is also the fake location app in cydia. Thanks for the responses I guess I should have just played with the app a little more before I asked.

Ensure that location sharing is enabled on both your device and your contact's device. If it's enabled and still not updating, your contact might have disabled location sharing or their device might be offline.
I know I'm a year and some change late to this discussion, but you can always check your battery usage by app stats. I've had mine on for a few days now, sharing it with one person, and it's only using up 1%.
In my case I had two contacts linked - 1 from my iCloud & 1 from my Microsoft Exchange account. Steps to fix: Go into contacts -> the contact with issue -> edit. Under linked contacts section press the red - dot to remove the link. Go back to contacts and delete the non-iCloud duplicate contact.

None of us upgraded to new phones, but our locations in the 'Find My' app have not been accurate - the general vicinity is accurate, but not as precise as it was before. Something changed and it is very frustrating!
A friend who had a 4s then got a 5, neither phone would background update so his location was never shown unless the app was running. The 7.0.2 update fixed it and his location is always available. Some other things you can try are deleting and reinstalling the app, deleting your friend from your followers and then adding them back.
