Literally same. Charge 5 was incredibly disappointing. No idea why all the reviews rate it so positively. The bass was also just as you described. Admittedly, I like over bloated bass, but I can temper expectations for smaller speakers in that department. Even then Charge 5’s bass was lacking.
The 10W tweeter do consume good amount of power, and the JBL Charge 5 is using the same 7500mah battery size as on JBL Charge 4. Anyway, I return JBL Charge 5 for MIFA Wildbox which has way much better sound and battery life than JBL Charge 5, and it is cheaper than JBL Charge 5. You can find this on sale for <$100 often on Amazon.

The Charge 5 charges with up to 5V/3A, meaning 15W. If you use a 10W brick it charges slower, if you use a 200W brick it still only charges with 15W. I have a JBL FLIP 5 which draws 3A but my Samsung charger output is only 2A.

I'm stuck between jbl charge 5 and ue megaboom 3. Ive been leaning toward the jbl charge 5 because I see the UE is an older model. Anyone have any thoughts on these two products. They are roughly the same price +/- $20. I do realize that ue has the older micro USB connection while Jbl charge 5 is a USB C. Any help will be greatly appreciated ...
That's just the Charge 5 which ranks #16 out of 94 small/medium speakers and has notes of: "Negatives: Not stereo. Warm sound. Shouty upper mids. Boosted bass. Slightly rolled off treble. Slightly strange upper mids. Overly expensive". There are better speakers for neutrality/clarity.
The charge 5 has amazing sound quality, absolutely superb. That being said, my friend has one and this happened to the feet on his within the first couple weeks too. Terrible design lol. I wouldn’t worry about it too much tho
Profile 1: bass +1, mid -1, treble +/-0. Profile 2: bass +/-0, mid -2, treble +/-0. I find that with the built-in tweeter that there is plenty of treble in it's natural state. Given the size of the woofer, bass is usually gonna be lacking a bit, so an increase of 1 usually does fine, anything above that causes more distortion than I would like.
Bottom line: Even with said discount, you basically bought a sham package. The Flip 5 is a literal middle finger in the faces of loyal JBL customers. The Flip 4 will be my very last JBL device ever. Their BT speakers got worse and worse, first with the Charge 4 that started the whole mono driver thing, and now they went full-on Apple with the ...
