  5. Methodology used in this study are document analysis and thematic analysis of interview data from public and private Early Childhood Care and Education in Malaysia. The results show there are five important elements that contribute to the development of career path among the ECCE educators.

  6. Originality/value: This study makes an original contribution by showing that the process of career development as a social entrepreneur has given meaning to the informants. Despite presenting many challenges, social entrepreneurship has reinforced the role of youth social entrepreneurs, especially in relation to social responsibility.
